Phantom Spires 8x6
My son and I went rock climbing at Sugarloaf just above Kyburz. It was a fantastic day. After our climb we headed up the hill to get burgers at the Strawberry Lodge. When we were coming home I saw this back lit view of the Phantom Spires and decided to snap a picture to aid my memory so I could paint it when I got home. There are a lot of great places to paint that also happen to be great places to climb. It's going to be hard to make up my mind this summer!

Sutter Buttes 10x9
It was a beautiful day to be out painting. The Sutter Buttes are about an hours drive from my house. They are famous for being the worlds smallest mountain range.

Serene Lakes #2 8x6
One of the things Terry had us do last weekend was paint little thumbnails to plan out composition. I had never done this before. I figured that these little plein aire studies were already so small that they were basically just thumbnails anyway. I was surprised to find out just how much a simple thumbnail helped me organize the painting.
