A friend of mine gave me a cool deformed pear to paint about a week ago. I didn't get around to painting it until today. It was a bit soft and faded so i went out to the tree in front of my classroom to get another and I discovered that all the pears on that tree are deformed.

Jill Mendelsohn, our science teacher, brought this in for me to paint. She was attracted to the reddish blush on one side which is the same thing that I liked about this pear. I always like it when other people bring me subject to paint. It's particularly fun when we are drawn to an object for the same reason.
