It was great fun introducing my students to kumquats. Most of them had never tried them before. All the kids who tried them really liked them.

Well, I have to say that I have enjoyed doing these paintings with colored backgrounds. I'm trying to keep the background color desaturated so that it doesn't compete with the subject. Now I just need to get some more fabric scraps so I can give these blue shop rags a rest.

A couple of other artists that I like have done similar paintings recently and I thought they were very striking so I decided to try this composition. One problem that I didn't anticipate was that the peel kept dragging the clementine off it's perch.

This small pumpkin is from our school garden. There are various squashes laying around out there. I'll probably paint some more in the next week or two, This was pretty fun.

These little guys are a great color, sort of translucent too. I think they're pretty fun to paint but too hot for me to eat.

I didn't have time to get out and paint a landscape this afternoon. I didn't mind too much though. I do enjoy painting glass and I just got this new one from the 99 cent store the other day.
