Giant Gap #2 8x10

This was painted on a rare nice day this month. Normally I would be doing a lot more plein air work by this time of year but the weather has been uncooperative.

El Cap 6x6

I did this little painting using some old black and white photos as reference. I don't usually paint from photos but I'm feeling a bit more confident lately and this was a fun exercise. Some friends of mine are heading down to Yosemite to hike Half Dome this Sunday and they invited me to tag along. I won't be doing the hike but I will be doing as much painting as I can get in while they're on the trail. It's going to be a long day but I'm really looking forward to it.

No Hands Bridge #14 12x9

It was a fantastic day at the river. Just cool enough to keep the crowds at bay.

Phantom Spires 8x6

My son and I went rock climbing at Sugarloaf just above Kyburz. It was a fantastic day. After our climb we headed up the hill to get burgers at the Strawberry Lodge. When we were coming home I saw this back lit view of the Phantom Spires and decided to snap a picture to aid my memory so I could paint it when I got home. There are a lot of great places to paint that also happen to be great places to climb. It's going to be hard to make up my mind this summer!

Duckbill #2 8x10

This interesting rock formation is on the Bear River just above Dog Bar Bridge. We used to go swiming here all the time when we were kids.

morning 12x9

I pass this field on my way to work every day. I decided to get up early and paint it at first light.

barn #2 6x8

We went up to my mom's house near Weimar for brunch today. I took off for an hour or so to paint the old barn across the road. I believe it used to be a dairy barn when it was in use. It's deterioration is accelerating. I am going to try to document it as it falls into the ground.

clouds 4.5x4

It's been raining for the last few days. It stopped today and we had these great clouds floating through.

lembert Dome #2 8x6

I know this seems like the same painting that I did yesterday but this one's a little bigger and It's on linen. I'm gearing up to do a larger piece and I'm trying to work out some color issues with these small ones.
