Here's some autumn bounty from the school garden.

A student found these two very different tomatoes joined by a stem and put them in my line-up.

lemon cucumbers 7x5.5

These lemon cucumbers are from the garden at school. Their deep golden color is very striking. All of the lemon cucumbers that I have seen up until today were quite pale in comparison.

The garden at school is packed with produce. I picked this tomato there this afternoon. They're delicious.

trapped pepper 5.5x7

The idea behind this is the same as the single grape tomato in the jar that I painted a few days ago. I like the idea of the pepper being contained for our viewing.

My sister went to see Nick Cave in San Francisco a few days ago and all I got was this strange vegetable! She picked it up in Little Saigon. She liked the colors and thought it would make a nice painting.

The straight forward arrangement that I typically use to present the objects in my paintings has often made me think about laboratory specimens. Putting this lone tomato in a sealed jar heightens that impression. I like it. It makes the tomato seem very important, maybe even dangerous.

Cut tomatoes look different depending on how you cut them. Their wetness is a fun challenge to paint.

eggplant #3 5.5x7

I had somr trouble with my camera on this one so I ended up posting it pretty late. I've got to make sure the battery is charged in the future.
This eggplant is also from the farmer's market. I like the long stem and the widow's peak.
