pear #2 5x7

This on is off the same tree as yesterday's offering. Pears are pretty fun to paint. Some painters think they're sort of anthropomorphic.

This sketch took about an hour. A dog barked at me the whole time.

egg #8 5x7

This is another egg from our school garden. The nice thing about painting eggs is that they're always so different after you break 'em.

glue bottle 5x7

There was a meeting of district art teachers out at Foresthill High School today. I hadn't done a painting yet so I decided to do one there. Rachael's room is a lot neater than mine so there wasn't very much junk to choose from, however, the orange cap to this big jug of glue caught my eye.

Red Bull 5x7

I have kids who drink energy drinks for breakfast every morning.

North Fork Americn River 7x8

I went on a hiking field trip down Steven's Trai out of Colfax today. While the kids were frolicking and resting I painted this. It was a lot of fun to try to incorporate some of the ideas that I was exposed to last week at Terry's workshop.

Twinkie #5 7x5

I had fun using a more subdued color scheme in this one.

Serene Lakes #2 8x6

One of the things Terry had us do last weekend was paint little thumbnails to plan out composition. I had never done this before. I figured that these little plein aire studies were already so small that they were basically just thumbnails anyway. I was surprised to find out just how much a simple thumbnail helped me organize the painting.
