near Euchre Bar 8x10
When I was painting this I heard a large body crashing through the gully to my right. At first I didn't see anything but the noise persisted and as I looked again I saw a large bear come lumbering out into the gully bottom. It looked pretty big to me and I was glad that for once I was painting near my car. I figured I would have enough time to load my gear and make my escape should I hear it approaching up the hill. I ended up not hearing or seeing it again.

Petaluma Workshop
I've been out of ton for the last week at a painting workshop in Petaluma led by Paul Kratter. I had a great time and took in a ton of useful information. Paul is a very talented painter and teacher. He's also a very nice guy. The other people who participated in the workshop were also very personable. I think our group had some great chemistry. I'm going to miss painting with them every day!
Thses are a fer of the paintings That I did out there. I'l post some more tomorrow.

I started this one on the drive home. I didn't have time to finish it on site though. I just finished it up in my studio.

Point Lobos 6x8
We stopped by Point Lobos preserve on our way home. It's a pretty small preserve but well worth the visit.

Malakoff Diggins 10x8
I finally got a chance to get up to Malakoff Diggins. This place was suggested to me by a blog follower from Germany who had spent some time in Sacramento and the surrounding foothills. I have to say it was a great suggestion and I'm looking forward to making the trip again. Thanks Reinhard!
