head study #4 5.5x7

I like doing portraits. Unfortunately, I am still the most patient model that I have easy access to. A few of my students watching my progress on this one, and deciding it was a passable likeness, offered their services in the modeling department. I may take them up on it in the next few days. It would be a fun challenge to paint a face that I'm not so familiar with.

I saw the original painting when it was almost completed. Again, I'm struck by the difference between the original and the photograph. The photo simply doesn't do justice. Your portrait is much warmer in person. You've done a great job of capturing the intense gaze and character of your subject (yourself). I'll look forward to more portraiture, but again the original has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

He didnt mention it again but he does that, thinks on things for a while. It will be nothing short of a miracle if he actualy does put colours on paper, he does not do ART of any kind. Every specialist he has puzzles over that. If he makes you anything I will of course send it immediatly, after taking a photograph to show my mom that is!
