scissors etc. 11x14

I had a lot of fun painting this one. Reflective and transparent surfaces are endlessly fascinating to me.

lemon screwdriver 8x10

I was asked by a couple of people why I decided to paint these two objects together. They thought there must be some story behind it. I just did it because they're both yellow.

hammer #6 8x10

This hammer isn't antique or special in any way. It's just the regular old hammer I use when I'm building stuff.

hammer #5 5x7

I've had this hammer in my class room for years. I haven't painted it until now because it was covered with paint. I spent a few minutes cleaning it off with lacquer thinner before doing this painting. I suppose I could have painted it with the paint on it but I really wanted to see the shinny chromed handle.

pipe wrench #2 7x5

Tools like this pipe wrench are a fun to do for a change. The drawing is more demanding than when painting organic things like fruit or flowers. It can also be a challenge to capture a sense of the mass of the object.

screwdriver #3 5x7

Today was one of those days where I could have been happy painting anything. The world just seemed full of possibilities. I chose to stay close to home and do this screwdriver.

hammer #4 5x7

I have been a little busy lately and unable to make it outside. I still have lots of ideas that I want to try, landscape-wise, but I think a bit of a break will nice. It's nice to come back to still-lifes every now and then. There is a different kind of looking involved.
