I finally got a chance to get up to Malakoff Diggins. This place was suggested to me by a blog follower from Germany who had spent some time in Sacramento and the surrounding foothills. I have to say it was a great suggestion and I'm looking forward to making the trip again. Thanks Reinhard!
Malakoff Diggins was central to the first environmental legal action in the country. You can read more about it

Really nice painting, Craig~ ya gotta be careful when you paint there. I nearly stepped in a bear poop - they're all over the place.
If you haven't already, the museum in the little town there has a short film about the history of the Diggin's. The sheer scale of its destruction and repercussions is absolutely mind boggling. And so close to home, too~
Thanks Terry,
I didn't step in any poop :-)
The Diggins are pretty cool. There was a lot of destruction there but it sure is a dramatic landscape and it is nice to know that people can do the right thing eventually. I'm looking forward to getting back out there.
Great painting of a great place. I'm glad you didn't step into a poop ...
I am back to Germany and enjoying your art every day! Thank you once again.
