rusty can 5.5x7

The subject of this painting may, at first glance, seem to have nothing to do with Christmas. The can depicted was a gift from my son. About a week ago he was walking the dogs with my wife and he came across this object down by the river. There are a number of old mining camp dumpsites along the American River near our house. Anything of real value, like old bottles and tools have long since been scavenged by collectors of such things, but Clint, being aware of my daily painting project, is ever on the alert for interesting items. He spotted this can, brought it home, wrapped it up and put it under the tree. I opened it this morning and loved it! He knows I like to do rusty things. I especially like how this is rusted all the way through at the bottom.
Merry Christmas!
