pencils 6"x7"

I saw this bundle of pencils in the teacher's room today and decided to paint it. I was attracted to it by the way the rubber bands twisted around the pencils. I also liked all the different shades of yellow.

succulent 6"x7"

I really enjoyed the cactus I painted a few weeks ago. I bought this one at Eisley's Nursery in Auburn, CA. It cost me $1.95. That's almost twice as much as the one I got at the 99 cent store. It was still worth every cent.

A friend of mine did a very similar painting a few days ago that I liked very much. I wanted to try to capture a similar feeling. This is the result.

cactus 6"x7"

My son and I went to the local 99 cent store and they had a bunch of these mini cacti. They're the perfect size for painting, very colorful, and priced to sell. I couldn't resist.

pencil 6"x7"

Dixon Ticonderoga #3. My favorite pencil. I use them when I draw comics. The lead is hard enough that it doesn't smear and is easily erased after inking. Nice shade of yellow too.

I'd like to thank the super nice secretary, Debbie Meyer, for loaning me this conch a few weeks ago. I've been meaning to paint it for some time. I just kept getting sidetracked by other subjects.

white flowers 6"x7"

I saw these flowers on my way to work. They were on a large bush, almost like a hedge. It was about nine feet tall. I'm not sure what kind of plant it was. I'm going to grab another sample with some leaves on it to see if Ellen can identify it.

sky 6"x7"

I've been carrying my camera in case I happen upon a scene that looks good for painting. I saw these breaking clouds on my way to work and thought they fit the bill. Of course I haven't seen any clouds at all around here in quite a while so it was worth it just for the novelty.

canna lily 6"x7"

On campus we have a large plot of land that is set up as a vegetable garden. I went out there this morning to get something to paint and found this huge plant. It was about six or seven feet tall and it had these cool orange flowers on top. I was told that they were canna lilies by Ellen Sterrett, one of our secretaries.
