rusty can 5.5x7
The subject of this painting may, at first glance, seem to have nothing to do with Christmas. The can depicted was a gift from my son. About a week ago he was walking the dogs with my wife and he came across this object down by the river. There are a number of old mining camp dumpsites along the American River near our house. Anything of real value, like old bottles and tools have long since been scavenged by collectors of such things, but Clint, being aware of my daily painting project, is ever on the alert for interesting items. He spotted this can, brought it home, wrapped it up and put it under the tree. I opened it this morning and loved it! He knows I like to do rusty things. I especially like how this is rusted all the way through at the bottom.
Merry Christmas!

seed pod #3 5.5"x7"
I've painted a couple of these before. They're seed pods from a liquid amber tree. My students all complained that I had painted these before. I had to point out that the first one was done a long time ago (August I think). The pod had not dispersed it's seeds yet. The second one was taped to the backdrop and was relatively new. This one is standing on a dark green cloth and was found in a gutter. Soaking in water has turned it a dark gray color insted of the warm tan that they are when they first loose their seeds. Anyhow, I just felt like painting it. I like their structure.

Snooks Candies 7"x5.5"
These are hand made candies from Snooks in Folsom CA. These are a few of Renee's favorites. The little designs that are on this kind of candy are a secret code that tells what's inside. These people make really good candy. We always stop by before going to the movies.

Chana High School Art Dept. Benefit Auction
I just posted my 100th painting last night. To help celebrate I'm doing a special charity auction for the Chana Art Department. My students selected these five paintings for auction on eBay. Whatever they end up selling for will be used to purchase much needed supplies for our art program (canvas, paint, brushes, silk screen ink, etc.). To encourage lots of participation the starting price for these five paintings is only one dollar.
So bid often and bid high!
