This is the view of the American River Canyon from the Auburn Dam Overlook. There isn't actually a dam here. Construction started in the late seventies or early eighties but was discontinued for various reasons. I don't mind. I like the canyon.

poppies are a real challenge to paint. they move around quite a bit. I find I have to paint the flowers first, as quickly as I can, and then concentrate on the container.
